Tracy Butler (tracybutlerphd) is a Doctoral Candidate in Latin American History at the University of Houston. Tracy specializes in women’s and gender history, cultural history, U.S.-Latin American relations, and twentieth-century Mexico. She is currently conducting research for her dissertation tentatively titled “Making Gringolandia: Race, Gender, and American Cultural Power in Cancun, 1970-2000.” You may email her at [email protected]

Reba Carethers (rebacarethers) earned a B.S. in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. She currently works with under served populations in the Texas Medical Center. Her interests include public health, health disparities, and anti-racism. She plans to return to school and become a critical care nurse practitioner with a master’s degree in public health. Douglas Torres-Edwards (moo4dougie) is completing his Ed.D. in Social Education at the University of Houston. He studies queer politics and educational reform movements. His dissertation explores discourses of masculinity among queer high school students. He teaches AP World History and AP United States History at a small early college high school. Nick Gibson (streetphilosopher42) earned a B.A. in Sociology and Communications from CSU San Bernardino, an M.A. in Sociology from CSU Fullerton, and is currently earning a J.D. from JFK University in California. His interests include anti-racism, gender equity, deviance and social control, politics, and burritos. Gabriel Kushin earned a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He’s completing an M.Div. at Yale Divinity School. He’s planning to pursue a Ph.D. in either Philosophy or Religious Studies. Gabe’s academic interests include ethics, political philosophy, human rights theory, philosophy of religion, theology, American religious history, and the intersection of religion and politics. Andrew Joseph Pegoda (pegodaaj) is completing his Ph.D. in History at the University of Houston. He studies race, culture, human rights, and education using American Studies / Cultural Studies methodologies. His dissertation is on the historical memory of the Modern Civil Rights Movement. Samantha Rodriguez (colicue) is working on a Ph.D. in History at the University of Houston. She studies Chicano/a History, Comparative Social History, African American Studies, Feminism, Borderlands, and Oral History. Her dissertation examines feminisms among Texas Chicanas in the 70s in relation to other women of color and the mainstream Anglo U.S. feminist movement. In particular, her research explores questions regarding gender/ethnic identity formation, community feminism, youth movements, and how social movements are interconnected. Sheryl Raffat Saeed (samarah44) has a Masters Degree in Sociology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She is currently a doctoral student in Social Education at the University of Houston. She has taught sociology at San Jacinto College and currently teaches 8th grade pre-AP American History full time in Sheldon Independent School District.
